Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) operates on the principle that cognitions (thoughts and perceptions) directly affect emotions and behaviors. I specifically call on concepts from a form of CBT called Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) which theorizes that a person’s automatic thoughts (perceptions) affect his/her emotions which then affect behaviors. Using REBT my clients work to positively reframe their perceptions to create more positive feeling states which can then change unhealthy behaviors.
