my approach
My therapeutic orientation is somewhat eclectic, meaning I take concepts from different theories depending on my client and his/her/their situation.
Primarily I call on concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered Therapy and Systems Theory. I do keep certain elements of therapy consistent from client to client — I always strive to be non-judgmental, genuine and fully present in my sessions.
I like to look at myself as a mirror in which I can reflect honest feedback about my clients’ perceptions and behaviors. While this process can be incredibly beneficial, it can be very difficult to confront the way you view and interact with the world.
Therapy can bring up challenging, even painful, issues; however, I firmly believe the benefits can far outweigh the discomfort involved with facing them.
Furthermore, I am versed in the practice of Mindfulness which I use with many of my clients. Ask me about this if you are interested.
The therapy I provide is confidential. I strictly adhere to all ACA (American Counseling Association) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines.
If you have further questions about my approach to therapy, please don't hesitate to ask.
